Treatments & Prices

Equine S.M.A.R.T, Sarah Allen, ICAT Dip ESMT, RVN, VNCert ECC, MIRVAP (MT),

provides various treatments for horses and ponies of all shapes, sizes, age and workload.

Initial Consultation and Treatment (£55.00)

Initial consultations normally take 2-2.5hrs and include a static assessment, a dynamic assessment (which may include lunging), tack check, full body treatment, suggested exercises and detailed records and diagrams.

Assessment of the horse or pony under saddle (£10.00)

In some cases, it may be appropriate for Sarah to see the horse being ridden under saddle to get a better understanding of what the owner may be feeling, in these cases an additional charge may be applied due to the amount of time spent at the appointment.

Paint the horse demonstrations (Price dependant on location and time spent at location)

As a Veterinary nurse Sarah has been responsible for assessing and teaching student veterinary nurses and has developed a passion for teaching. Sarah believes all horse owners should be given the opportunity to learn more about the equine body and how it moves to enable them to care for their horses and get the best of them under saddle.

Sarah regularly performs paint the horse demonstrations and talks for pony club days and livery yards.

** please note the horses are to be supplied by the venue**

Follow up consultation and treatment (£45.00)

Follow up consultations normally take 1-1.5hrs and include a static assessment, a dynamic assessment as necessary, full body treatment, suggested exercises and detailed records and diagrams.

Follow up consultations apply to patients who have been seen within 3 months of the previous treatment. If it has been more than 3 months since the patient has been seen an Initial Consultation may be performed as the equine body may have changed significantly during this time.

Pre-competition and post- competition treatments (price is dependent on location and time spent at venue).

Pre-competition treatments normally take 15-20 mins and can be performed 4hrs to 10minutes before the horse competes.

If your horse or pony is competing in multiple classes or phases that day a check will be done in between each class or phase.

Post-competition treatments normally take 20-30 mins and can be performed once the horse or pony has cooled down and their respiration rate has returned to normal.

Please note pre and post competition treatments are only performed on horses and ponies Sarah has treated before, this is because the treatments are condensed and tailored to target the main areas of weakness and the muscle groups the horse or pony will predominantly use that day, so it is vital that Sarah knows the horses body to ensure that she gives the best treatment and service for your horse on the big day!

However, the animal must be registered with a Vet to be able to receive treatment. For this reason, Sarah will always ask you for details of your current Veterinary practice prior to treatment.

If your horse or pony is being referred for rehabilitation treatment post injury or illness, Sarah will need to obtain Veterinary permission prior to treatment in accordance with RCVS guidelines.
